What is Kattenkamer?

Kattenkamer.nl is the free all-in-one website for cat owners in the Netherlands and Belgium. One cat passport, 20 tools — from food checker to kitten planner — that all work together as if they belong together. Because they do.

Privacy: your data stays with you

Kattenkamer has no accounts. The cat passport and all tool results are stored exclusively, locally in your own browser (localStorage). We can’t access it, and nothing leaves your device. If you clear your browser data, your passport is gone too — so export it now and then from the passport page.

Joining in on The Community or the photo contest? Then we only keep what you post yourself (your message or photo and the name you provide). Your browser gets one functional, anonymous cookie so that voting works and your own messages are recognised — it contains no personal data and we don’t track you with it. To fight spam we keep an encrypted, untraceable code derived from your IP address (never the IP address itself). We use no tracking and no advertising. For anonymous, aggregated visitor statistics (like how many visitors we get and which pages are popular) we use Vercel Web Analytics — it works without cookies and without tracking you as an individual.

Our news desk & the use of AI

The cat news on Kattenkamer is written by our editorial team with the help of AI (gpt-4o-mini) and then editorially composed in our own tone. We work to fixed principles: we base ourselves on reliable, existing reporting and always cite our sources, we don’t make up facts or quotes, and we deliberately choose uplifting news — we leave out alarming or sad reports. The main images with articles are our own, AI-generated illustrations (not press photos). Is something wrong? Let us know and we’ll correct it.

Because every cat deserves a well-informed owner. Kattenkamer is a non-profit hobby project, built by cat lovers.
